ARTIST NOTE
When complementary primary colors are contrasted, there is an intense and striking stimulation. As a result, my paintings appear very vibrant to the naked eye.
What’s intriguing is that when the light of all these colors is combined, it creates white light. Yet, when complementary colors are mixed with paint, they become dark, achromatic tones.
Just as profound sadness can give way to immense joy, the deeper the blue, the more vivid the opposing orange becomes. This is how they contrast and coexist.
Individually, the colors appear dazzling, but when viewed as a whole, they transform into a space of "emptiness (무)."
My art is both vibrant and not vibrant. "Form is emptiness, and emptiness is form."
This phrase signifies that all colors are fundamentally void, and this emptiness manifests as material phenomena. The material world and the immaterial world are not separate but one and the same.
